This glossary compiles commonly used terms, features, and UI components from the Postcards platform, drawing from its functionality across articles in our help center. Whether you’re a new or experienced user, this glossary provides clear definitions to help you navigate the Postcards Email Builder with confidence.

General Terms

Project A single email template that's created in the Postcards dashboard by a user.
Drag-and-Drop Editor The core interface of Postcards allows you to create email templates by dragging pre-built blocks onto the canvas and customizing them without coding.
Module Pre-designed, customizable content blocks (e.g., Header, Content, etc) that are dragged into the editor to build email templates.
Element A single, editable component within a module, such as text, an image, or a button that can be customized in the Postcards drag-and-drop editor to build or modify email templates.
Email Service Provider (ESP) Platforms like Mailchimp, HubSpot, etc, that Postcards integrates with for sending HTML emails.

Features and UI Components

AI Assistant A Pro plan-exclusive tool that generates or refines text (e.g., headlines, CTAs, product descriptions) within the editor.
Call to Action (CTA) A module or text element designed to prompt user action (e.g., “Shop Now” button).
Collapse on Mobile A table setting in the right sidebar that reformats tables into a single-column layout on mobile devices for better readability.
Custom Code A section in the editor allows users to add inline CSS or custom HTML content for advanced styling and design.
Custom Fonts User-uploaded typefaces that are specifically designed or modified for a particular brand or project.
Direct URL An option in the Image Library to host images on external servers, ensuring they load correctly in email clients when “Host images/fonts online” is enabled.
Element List A pop-up in the editor listing elements like Table, Text, or Image that can be added to a module
Email Preview A feature to send test emails to multiple recipients, verifying rendering across clients like Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.
Export As Image An option to convert complex modules (e.g., headers, text with custom fonts) to images, ensuring consistent rendering across email clients.
Exporting Templates A feature to export projects as HTML, or directly to ESPs like Mailchimp, HubSpot, etc.
Grid A module type for structuring content, ensuring consistent layouts across devices. Used to align images or social media icons.
Grid Item A sub-element within a Grid module, customizable with widths (e.g., 375px or less) and “Fill” settings for centred layouts.
Host Images/Fonts Online An export option ensuring images and fonts are hosted on Designmodo’s servers, preventing loading issues in email clients
Image Library A feature in Postcards for uploading, cropping, or managing images.
Layers Panel The left sidebar in the editor displays the structure of modules and elements within your email template.
Preview & Share A feature to toggle between mobile and desktop views and share project previews with team members or clients via public links (Plus/Pro plans).
Table An element for data-driven content (e.g., pricing charts), customizable with rows, cells, borders, and widths.
Cell A single column within a table, editable for text, images, or alignment.
Floating Blue Dots Interactive UI elements in the editor’s central canvas, used to add rows or cells to a table by clicking

Account Management Terms

Editor Role A team role assigned via the “Invite” section, allowing users to view, edit, and create projects.
Viewer Role A team role assigned via the “Invite” section, allowing users to view projects without editing capabilities.
Real-Time Collaboration A Pro plan feature enabling multiple users to edit a project simultaneously, with colored cursors indicating each user’s actions to avoid conflicts.
