Real-Time Collaboration
Real-Time Collaboration in Postcards Email Builder revolutionizes team-based email template creation by enabling multiple users to work on the same project simultaneously. With this feature, team members can see each other’s cursors and edits in real time, fostering seamless collaboration and improving workflow efficiency. Below is an overview of how to use Real-Time Collaboration to create and edit email templates together.
Getting Started With Real-Time Collaboration
To begin collaborating in real time, all team members must access the same project:
- Select the Same Project:
- From the dashboard, ensure all team members (with Editor roles) select the same email project.
- Enter the Editor:
- Once the project is open, all users must be in the editor’s main canvas (the central workspace where modules and elements are added and edited) to participate in real-time collaboration.
Using Real-Time Collaboration
The Real-Time Collaboration feature allows you to see and track team members’ actions within the editor:
- Seeing User Cursors:
- When a team member moves their cursor within the editor’s main canvas, their cursor appears as a colored arrow.
- Each user is assigned a unique color, which remains consistent throughout the session, making it easy to identify who is active.
- The arrow is visible only when the user is actively moving within the editor space.
- Cursor Visibility Limitations:
- If a user navigates to the left or right sidebar (e.g., to adjust settings or add modules), their cursor arrow disappears until they return to the editor canvas.
- Tracking Edits:
- When a user clicks on a module or element (e.g., a text element) to edit it, their cursor arrow disappears.
- A highlight appears around the content being edited (e.g., a text block), marked with the user’s unique color, indicating which team member is actively editing that section. This ensures all collaborators can see who is working on specific content in real time.
- Collaborative Workflow:
- Multiple users can edit different modules or elements simultaneously, with changes reflected instantly for all team members.
- Look for each user’s colored cursor or highlight to avoid overlapping edits and maintain a smooth workflow.
Tips For Success
- Coordinate with Your Team: Communicate with teammates (e.g., via chat or email) to assign specific sections or tasks to avoid conflicts during simultaneous editing.
- Monitor User Colors: Pay attention to each user’s unique color to track who is editing what, especially when multiple team members are active.
- Use Viewer and Editor Roles: Ensure team members have appropriate permissions (set via the Teams feature). Editors can make changes, while Viewers can observe real-time updates without editing.
- Preview Changes: Regularly use the “Preview” button to check how collaborative edits appear on mobile and desktop devices, ensuring the template remains cohesive.
