Exporting Email Templates
Exporting email templates from Postcards allows you to save or share your email designs for use in various platforms or environments.
There are four export options:
- Download as ZIP
- Integrations
- Outlook Template
- Copy Email Code
Each option provides flexibility to meet different needs, from local storage to direct integration with email marketing platforms. Below is an overview of how to use these export options effectively.
Accessing Export Options
- Locate the Export Button:
- In the email editor, find the green "Export" button, located at the top-right corner of the interface.
- Select an Export Option:
- Click the "Export" button to reveal the four options:
- Download as ZIP
- Integrations
- Outlook Template
- Copy Email Code
- Click the "Export" button to reveal the four options:
Option 1: Download as ZIP
This option allows you to download your email template as a ZIP file, which includes the HTML of the email and all images inside for local use or manual integration.
- Select Download as ZIP:
- Click "Download as ZIP" from the Export button’s dropdown menu.
- A pop-up will appear with configuration options.
- Configure Export Settings:
- Host Images/Fonts Online: Toggle on to host images and fonts on a server, ensuring they load externally in the template. Toggle off to include them locally in the ZIP.
- Enable CDN Hosting (Pro) plan: Toggle on to use a Content Delivery Network for faster loading of assets. Toggle off to rely on local or direct hosting. Available only on the Pro plan.
- Minify Exported Code: Toggle on to reduce the HTML/CSS file size by removing unnecessary spaces and comments. Toggle off to keep the code unminified for readability.
- Download the ZIP:
- Once you’ve chosen your settings, click the blue "Download as ZIP" button.
- The template, including HTML and any selected assets, will download as a ZIP file to your device.
Option 2: Integrations
This option enables you to export your email template directly to popular email marketing platforms.
- Select Integrations:
- Click "Integrations" from the Export button’s dropdown menu.
- A pop-up will appear listing supported platforms, such as HubSpot, MailChimp, Klaviyo, SendPulse, SendGrid, Brevo, Constant Contact, and Zoho Campaigns.
- Connect and Export:
- Select the desired platform and follow the prompts to connect your account using API credentials (e.g., API key or login).
- Once connected, the template will be exported directly to the selected platform for use in your campaigns.
- Explore More Integrations:
- To view additional integration options, click the "More Integrations" link in the pop-up.
- This redirects to the Integrations Page, which lists all available integrations and includes video tutorials on how to export to each platform.
Option 3: Outlook Template
This option generates a template file compatible with Microsoft Outlook for Windows or macOS.
- Select Outlook Template:
- Click "Outlook Template" from the Export button’s dropdown menu.
- A pop-up will appear with configuration options.
- Configure Export Settings:
- Enable CDN Hosting (Pro) plan: Toggle on to use a Content Delivery Network for faster loading of assets like images and fonts. Toggle off to include assets locally. Available only on the Pro plan.
- Download the Template:
- Choose the appropriate button based on your operating system:
- Download for Windows (.OFT): Click the green button to download the template as a (.OFT) file for Outlook on Windows.
- Download for macOS (.EMLTPL): Click the green button to download the template as a (.EMLTPL) file for Outlook on macOS.
- The selected file will download to your device, ready for use in Outlook.
- Choose the appropriate button based on your operating system:
Option 4: Copy Email Code
This option allows you to copy the raw HTML code of your email template for manual use or integration.
- Select Copy Email Code:
- Click "Copy Email Code" from the Export button’s dropdown menu.
- A pop-up will appear with configuration options.
- Configure Export Settings:
- Host Images/Fonts Online: This option is automatically turned on to host images and fonts externally on our system, embedding their URLs in the code. Cannot be turned off.
- Enable CDN Hosting (Pro) plan: Toggle on to use a Content Delivery Network for faster asset loading. Toggle off for direct or local hosting. Available only on the Pro plan.
- Minify Exported Code: Toggle on to reduce the code size by removing spaces and comments. Toggle off to keep the code readable.
- Copy the Code:
- Once settings are configured, click the blue "Copy Email Code" button.
- The HTML code will be copied to your clipboard and ready to be pasted into another platform or editor.
How To Use Export Features
Exporting templates in Postcards is designed to fit various workflows. Use the green "Export" button to access the four options: Download as ZIP for local storage, Integrations for direct export to platforms like HubSpot or MailChimp, and Outlook Template for .OFT or .EMLTPL files, or Copy Email Code for manual HTML use.
Customize settings like hosting images/fonts, enabling CDN, or minifying code to suit your needs. For Integrations, connect your account or explore the Integrations Page for more options and tutorials. Always test exported templates in your target platform or email client to ensure compatibility and proper rendering. These features make it easy to share, integrate, or store your email designs efficiently.
